Muffle mutes your Mac's microphone. It is built so that nothing you say ever leaves your Mac.

What Muffle does with your microphone

During calls, Muffle keeps a silent connection to your microphone. macOS only passes the AirPods mute press to apps that are using the microphone, so this connection is what makes the AirPods press work.

If you turn on the “talk while muted” reminder, Muffle also measures how loud your Mac's built-in microphone is while you are muted, to notice that you started talking.

Muffle only looks at loudness numbers. It never records, stores, transcribes or sends audio.

Data we collect

None. Muffle has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It does not contact any server of ours.

Purchases

The free trial and the one-time purchase go through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment details; we never see them. Apple's privacy policy applies to those purchases.

Settings stored on your Mac

Your preferences, such as your keyboard shortcut, stay on your Mac in Muffle's own storage. Deleting Muffle deletes them.
